We welcomed back residents of Discovery Bay and, to those who joined Picnic in the Park for the first time, thanks for joining in on this year's event! This was the 4th year of Picnic in the Park and the line up for this year was bigger and better than ever. We had 12 bands playing throughout the day supported with performances by local dance troupes.

All of the performers on stage this year were either DB residents or have strong links to the community, making Picnic in the Park one of the best, free community events on Lantau, and dare we say it, the whole of Hong Kong.

This year, as in every year, the entertainment was free of charge. Thanks must go to our major sponsors, Lloyds TSB and The Henley Group, for supporting us. And a huge thanks to all the other sponsors, including DB City Management. We couldn’t have done it without you.

We are delighted to announce that proceeds from this year's event will go to the Hong Chi Association, an organisation which helps the mentally disabled, and Hong Kong Student Aid Society, a society that assists children from disadvantaged homes.

At this year's event there was much more than music and dance entertainment on offer. We had arts and crafts and bouncy castles for kids, plus a wide range of refreshments and food. And the entertainment didn’t end in Siena Park. There were even more bands on at the after-show, Party in the Plaza from 9pm. McSorley’s and Hemingway’s hosted more live music until late. It was a brilliant day.
